Electroencephalogram (EEG)

Just like our brain cells your pet's brain cells talk with each other by producing electrical signals called impulses. An electroencephalogram (EEG) is a test to measure the electrical activity of the brain.

An EEG records the electrical impulses in your pet’s brain onto a trip of paper or into a computer screen paper (it looks like a bunch of wavy lines).  An EEG is most often used to diagnose seizures but is sometimes used to look for other conditions. It is important to keep in mind that a normal EEG does not mean a seizure did not occur.
